With the world-famous Ratha Jatra 2026 drawing near, Odisha Police carried out a large-scale mock drill in Puri to assess the city’s emergency response, crowd management, and inter-agency coordination. The drill was conducted at key points along the Grand Road and around the Shree Jagannath Temple to simulate real-time scenarios that could arise during the festival, when lakhs of devotees are expected to gather. The exercise was designed to test the readiness of police, fire services, health teams, NDRF, ODRAF, and other stakeholder departments. To ensure a safe and peaceful Ratha Jatra, the State Government has put in place extensive security arrangements. Over 13,000 police personnel will be deployed across Puri during the festival. This includes armed police, traffic personnel, women police, and commandos.
