Tensions in the Strait of Hormuz escalated again after Iranian attack on a Cyprus-flagged vessel. The ship caught fire in the incident. According to reports, there were 11 Indian sailors on board. One Indian sailor is reported missing, while 10 others have been rescued. The Ministry of External Affairs (MEA) strongly condemned the attack, saying that attacking civilian infrastructure and commercial ships is condemnable. The attack comes days after Iran announced the closure of the Strait of Hormuz and following US strikes on Iranian targets. The US reportedly targeted Iranian missile sites, drone facilities, and naval bases. According to US Central Command (CENTCOM), 140 locations in Iran were hit. In retaliation, Iran targeted US bases in Bahrain, Kuwait, Qatar, and the UAE.
