A postmaster has been suspended over allegations of a Rs 50-crore fraud. Gouranga Sarkar, former Sub-Postmaster of Jharigam Sub Post Office, has been suspended by the Superintendent of Post Offices. He is currently posted in Baipariguda in Koraput district. The fraud took place in Koraput and Nabarangpur districts. There were allegations of misappropriation of Direct Benefit Transfer (DBT) funds under Government schemes. The fraud occurred at Jharigam, Kodinga and Dabugaon post offices. An investigation is currently underway against the postmasters of Kodinga and Dabugaon post offices.
