Govt holds Meeting to tackle Urban Flooding, 10 Cities to get Funds for Drainage Upgrade
To prevent artificial flooding caused by continuous rainfall, the Odisha Government has initiated a multi-pronged plan, Disaster Management Minister Suresh Pujari informed after a high-level meeting.

The Housing & Urban Development Department has been directed to submit a list of 10 most vulnerable urban areas.

In the first phase this year, funds will be sanctioned for these 10 urban local bodies to strengthen drainage and water discharge systems. The Government will modernize the 580-km long coastline and put in place an advance warning system.

Odisha also falls in the tsunami-prone zone. The State Government will create awareness among residents of 381 coastal villages, Minister Pujari said.
