The Food Safety and Standards Authority of India (FSSAI) has issued a notice to the Indian Railway Catering and Tourism Corporation (IRCTC). The action comes after a video showing catering staff washing utensils inside a train toilet went viral on social media. FSSAI has directed IRCTC to ensure that catering employees provide services in a hygienic manner, saying that washing utensils in toilets is a violation of food safety laws. The food safety regulator has also instructed IRCTC to submit a prompt response to the complaint. The viral video had sparked widespread outrage over hygiene standards in railway catering, with passengers demanding strict action against those responsible.
