Karnataka Chief Minister Siddaramaiah is reportedly set to resign from his post at 3 PM on Thursday following directions from the Congress high command. According to information shared with the media by Minister HK Patil, Deputy Chief Minister DK Shivakumar will be the new Chief Minister of the State. Shivakumar sought Siddaramaiah’s blessings before a key Congress breakfast meet. The development comes amid ongoing speculation about a leadership change in Karnataka as part of a power-sharing formula within the State Congress. Siddaramaiah, who took oath as Chief Minister in May 2023, was serving his second term. DK Shivakumar, the Karnataka Pradesh Congress Committee President, played a key role in the party’s 2023 Assembly election victory and has been Deputy CM since then. Further details on the oath-taking ceremony and cabinet changes are expected after the formal resignation.
