At least 32 people have been killed and around 700 others injured after two powerful earthquakes struck Venezuela on Wednesday. Venezuela was struck by two powerful back-to-back earthquakes, causing widespread destruction across Caracas and several states. While, magnitude of 7.2 struck at 6:04 PM local time, 160 km west of Caracas near San Felipe/Morón, magnitude of 7.5 hit less than a minute later, 39 seconds after the first, near Yumare/Morón. Buildings collapsed across Caracas, trapping people in rubble. Acting President Delcy Rodriguez declared a state of emergency and confirmed fatalities, extending condolences to families who suffered the loss of a family member. Casualty figures remain preliminary as search and rescue operations continue.
