West Bengal BJP President Samik Bhattacharya has indicated that the State could soon be renamed ‘Paschim Banga’. According to Bhattacharya, the BJP-led State Government is preparing to introduce a Bill in the State Assembly seeking to formally rename West Bengal. The BJP state president said the move would mark a significant change in the state’s official identity. He made it clear that the BJP does not want the state to be renamed simply “Bangla”.
