Life has been thrown out of gear as intense heat and humidity sweep across western Odisha. Hirakud in Sambalpur district recorded a scorching 44°C today, marking one of the highest temperatures in the region this season. Other major towns also reeled under severe heat. Jharsuguda registered 43.8°C while Sambalpur city recorded 43.4°C. Severe heat and humidity have disrupted normal life, with residents avoiding outdoor activity during peak hours.
