The death toll from flash floods in central Nepal rose to 469 on Friday, with more bodies recovered as search and rescue operations continued for the third day following the disaster. US Geological Survey says massive glacial collapse caused flash floods in the Himalayan border region of Nepal and Tibet. The collapse triggered a huge release of water, mud, rock and ice that thundered down valleys and swept down the Lhende Khola, Bhotekoshi and Trishuli rivers. Death toll is expected to rise as rescue teams attempt to reach areas that have been cut off by the floods, with several key bridges and highways also devastated.
