At least 291 foreign nationals, including 105 Indians, are missing after sudden mountain floods caused widespread destruction in Nepal’s Rasuwa area. At least nine people died, with over 100 Indians missing after massive flash floods swept through northern Nepal’s Rasuwa district near the Tibet border on Wednesday. The Central Water Commission (CWC) under the Ministry of Jal Shakti has advised local authorities in Bihar and Uttar Pradesh, particularly areas near the India-Nepal border along the Gandak, to remain alert and closely monitor the situation. Amid the threat of floods in Bihar due to heavy rainfall and a glacier burst in Nepal, Union Home Minister Amit Shah spoke to Bihar Chief Minister Samrat Choudhary over the phone. Initial reports indicate that at least eight people have died in the disaster. Nepal Army, Armed Police Force and Nepal Police personnel have been mobilised for rescue and relief operations. Authorities have deployed 15 helicopters to evacuate stranded people and assist in search-and-rescue efforts. The flood surged through the Bhote Koshi River from the Tibet side, affecting Rasuwa and Dhading districts bordering Tibet. The sudden surge of floodwaters has washed away roads, bridges and several power projects, severely disrupting connectivity and infrastructure in the mountainous areas. According to the Nepal Tourism Board (NTB) the 384 missing tourists include 291 foreign nationals and 93 Nepali citizens.
