The Supreme Court has quashed bail conditions imposed by some courts that required accused persons to clean police stations or do community service at police premises to secure release. The apex court termed such conditions violation of personal dignity. Several trial courts in Odisha had recently granted bail to accused persons on the condition that they do community service at police stations including cleaning premises or planting trees for a fixed number of days. The Supreme Court directed all High Courts and trial courts to refrain from imposing such clean police station conditions. The apex court noted that at least six such orders were passed between May 2025 and January 2026. Post navigation New West Bengal CM to take oath on May 9
