Narco-Trafficking Accused Navpreet Singh Deported from Türkiye to India

Indian agencies have secured the deportation of Navpreet Singh, an accused in drug-trafficking and other criminal cases, from Türkiye to India, Union Home Minister Amit Shah said on Saturday.

According to Shah, Singh had obtained Turkish citizenship using the identity “Navab Virk” and was allegedly involved in smuggling heroin and methamphetamine from Afghanistan to India. Indian agencies traced his identity and coordinated to secure his deportation. He has now been brought back to India and taken into custody in connection with cases related to drug trafficking and other alleged crimes.

Shah congratulated the agencies involved in the operation and described the development as a significant step in the fight against transnational drug-trafficking networks. He also reiterated the government’s stated commitment to dismantling narco-cartels before December 2029.

The Ministry of Home Affairs said that, Navpreet Singh brought to Rouse Avenue court.

The latest deportation highlights the role of international cooperation and coordination among Indian law-enforcement agencies in pursuing suspects accused of operating drug-trafficking networks from abroad.
