Union Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw said the government will establish a ₹10,000-crore SME Growth Fund (SGF) to support the expansion of small and medium enterprises. He said the fund will provide long-term equity capital to SMEs with strong growth potential, with a major focus on manufacturing. Minister said the SME sector plays an important role in employment generation, exports and manufacturing. The new fund aims to address the challenges faced by SMEs in raising capital for expansion. Under the initiative, selected SMEs will get access to the funds needed to grow their businesses. This will particularly benefit small enterprises that earlier had to depend on other sources to raise capital for expansion.
