A cyclonic circulation is currently active over Odisha, according to the India Meteorological Department. Under its influence, a low-pressure area is likely to form over the east-central Bay of Bengal around May 28 and 29. The system is expected to move northwestwards thereafter. The IMD has assessed that the impact of the low pressure will intensify with Kalbaisakhi activity across the state. Thunderstorms with gusty winds and lightning are likely in several districts. Authorities have advised people to stay alert and follow weather updates. Fishermen have been asked not to venture into the sea once the system develops.
