The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) won the Nandigram and Rejinagar Assembly bypolls in West Bengal, while Tamilaga Vettri Kazhagam (TVK) won Dharapuram and Madurantakam in Tamil Nadu. In Puducherry, All India NR Congress (AINRC) candidate Ashok Anand won the Thattanchavady bypoll. In Assam’s Nagaon Lok Sabha bypoll, BJP candidate Devasish Sharma was leading AIUDF candidate Badruddin Ajmal by 1,71,558 votes, according to the latest Election Commission updates.

In Nandigram, BJP candidate Hasin Rani Rath defeated Congress candidate Milan Pradhan by 1,22,753 votes, securing around 75 per cent of the votes. Rath is the mother of Chandranath Rath, a former aide to West Bengal Chief Minister Suvendu Adhikari. In Rejinagar, BJP candidate Shankharavh Sarkar defeated Aam Janata Unnayan Party (AJUP) candidate Golam Nabi Azad, also known as Robin, by 75,816 votes. Sarkar secured 1,29,914 votes (63.14 per cent), while Azad received 54,098 (26.29 per cent). Congress candidate Abdullahil Kafi got 6,168 votes (3 per cent), Trinamool Congress (TMC) candidate Rabiul Alam Chowdhury 3,847 (1.87 per cent), CPI(M) candidate Md Sayeed 3,797 (1.85 per cent) and Democratic Trinamool Congress candidate Saifuzzaman Saikh 2,044 (0.99 per cent).

In Tamil Nadu, TVK candidates Sathyabama and Maragatham Thangavel won Dharapuram and Madurantakam, respectively. Both had won these seats on All India Anna Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam (AIADMK) tickets in May 2026 before resigning and joining TVK.

In Puducherry, Ashok Anand defeated Congress candidate E Vinayagam by 8,482 votes in Thattanchavady. Anand received 13,358 votes, while Vinayagam secured 4,876. The constituency was previously represented by Chief Minister N Rangasamy, who vacated the seat after choosing to retain Mangalam, one of the two constituencies he won in the April 2026 Assembly election. Anand’s winning margin was nearly double Rangasamy’s 4,441-vote margin in Thattanchavady in April.
