Odisha CM Mohan Majhi attends 77th State-Level Van Mahotsav, Highlights State’s Green Push
Odisha Chief Minister Mohan Majhi attended 77th State-Level Van Mahotsav celebrations held in Kapileshwar on Tuesday.

Addressing the gathering, the CM said that large-scale afforestation is the only long-term solution to tackle global climate change and extreme heat waves. He stressed that development and environment are not opponents, but complements of each other.

CM Majhi informed that in the last two years, forest and tree cover in the state has increased by 558 square kilometers. As a result, Odisha now ranks 3rd in the entire country in terms of increase in green cover.

The CM informed that under the ‘Expanded Green Belt Scheme’, 15.93 lakh saplings will be planted on 358 hectares this year.

To reduce pollution in urban areas, a target of planting nearly 6.95 lakh saplings has been set for this year.
