India added another Gold medal to its Asian Games tally as boxer Parveen Hooda emerged victorious in the women’s 65kg category. Hooda defeated Paris Olympics bronze medallist Nien-Chin Che of Chinese Taipei in the final to clinch the Gold medal and further strengthen India’s impressive campaign at the Games. In the final, Parveen won the first round with a scoreline of 5-0 and but suffered a 0-5 defeat in the second round. In the third round, she won 3-2. With this victory, India’s medal tally rose to 73 medals, including 13 Golds. Parveen’s achievement also marks a significant milestone in Indian women’s boxing. She became the third Indian woman boxer after MC Mary Kom and Lovlina Borgohain to win a Gold medal at the Asian Games. Her historic triumph has added another golden chapter to India’s boxing campaign at the continental sporting event.
