NEET-UG Re-examination Scheduled for June 21, 2026 After May 3 Paper Leak
The National Testing Agency (NTA) has announced that the re-examination for NEET-UG 2026 will be held on June 21, 2026. The decision comes after the May 3 exam was cancelled following a question paper leak. Education Minister Dharmendra Pradhan announced that NEET UG will shift to a computer-based format from next year after the 2026 paper leak controversy.
 
The May 3 NEET-UG exam, taken by over 24 lakh medical aspirants across the country, was scrapped after investigations confirmed that the question paper had been leaked in several states. The incident triggered nationwide protests by students and parents, demanding a fair and transparent re-test.
 
The NTA said the June 21 re-exam will be conducted with enhanced security measures. These include multi-layered frisking, biometric verification, AI-based CCTV surveillance, and jammers at all centers to prevent malpractice. Question papers will be transported under GPS tracking with real-time monitoring.
 
Admit cards for the re-exam will be released separately through the official NTA website. The agency clarified that no fresh registration will be required, and all candidates who appeared on May 3 will be eligible for the June 21 test. The NTA has also stated that The complete registration fee of NEET 2026 will be refunded to the original payment source used by candidates while submitting the application form.
