A shocking and disturbing case of mob violence has emerged from Odisha’s Rayagada district, where a young woman was attacked by a large crowd. She was dragged by her hair, beaten, and her clothes were torn during the attack. As per report, a young woman and her colleague were attacked by a large crowd. The victims are working under fellowship programmes with a voluntary organisations. According to police, the victims are residents of outside Odisha. While passing through Kandulguda village under Dhamunipanga panchayat under Kalyansinghpur police station on the night of June 16, they stopped to ask villagers for directions. While two victims interacted with village children and distributed biscuits, they were attacked by a large crowd after being suspected of being child lifters. Police have arrested 21 people in connection with the incident. Police said an investigation is underway to ascertain the motive behind the assault. Further details are awaited.
