At least 24 people have been killed in floods, landslides and other rain-related incidents across Nepal over the past few days as relentless rainfall triggered fresh flooding and disrupted road connectivity in several parts of the country. The heavy rains have caused widespread damage, with floodwaters inundating vulnerable areas and landslides blocking roads and affecting transportation. Several houses have also been swept away in the rain-triggered disasters. In a major incident, a massive mountainside collapsed into the swollen Kali Gandaki River. The volume of debris slammed directly into the Kali Gandaki River, temporarily creating a natural dam and blocking its flow. The latest damage has come as Nepal is still reeling from last month’s flash floods, which killed at least 1,453 people, while more than 5,000 remain missing. Authorities have urged people living in flood- and landslide-prone areas to remain alert as the rain continues. The country recorded 439 monsoon-related incidents over the past five days.
