The India-Africa Summit scheduled to be held in Delhi on May 28 has been postponed due to Ebola concerns. India and the African Union jointly decided to defer the diplomatic gathering while reaffirming cooperation on public health preparedness, emergency response, and support for Africa-led healthcare initiatives. The Government took the decision to defer the summit by mutual consent, particularly in view of the worsening situation in Congo. Health and safety of delegates was cited as the key reason for the postponement. Fresh dates for the summit will be decided later after assessing the situation. The India-Africa Summit was expected to see participation from several African heads of state to discuss trade, investment, and strategic cooperation.
