Odisha CM Announces Cash Awards for Indian Women’s Hockey Team After Historic Asian Games Gold
Odisha Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi has announced a cash award of ₹11 lakh each for the players and ₹5.5 lakh each for the support staff of the Indian Women’s Hockey Team in recognition of their historic gold medal victory at the Asian Games 2026.
 
Congratulating the team on its outstanding achievement, Chief Minister Majhi praised the players for their exceptional performance, determination and commitment. He said their historic victory has brought immense pride to the Nation and added to India’s rich sporting legacy.
 
The Chief Minister also reaffirmed the Odisha Government’s continued commitment to the development of Hockey and the promotion of sporting excellence. Odisha, which has played a significant role in supporting Indian hockey, will continue to encourage and nurture athletes and provide an environment conducive to sporting success.
 
India’s women’s hockey team ended a 44-year wait for Asian Games gold with a hard-fought 1-0 victory over defending champions China in the final in Aichi-Nagoya on Friday. The victory also secured India’s direct qualification for the Los Angeles 2028 Olympic Games.
