Low-Pressure Area Forms Over South Myanmar Coast; No Direct Impact on Odisha

A low-pressure area has formed over the south Myanmar coast under the influence of a cyclonic circulation over central Thailand. The associated cyclonic circulation extends up to around 9.4 km above mean sea level.

The system is likely to move into the North Andaman Sea and the Irrawaddy region of Myanmar during the next 24 hours. Over the following two days, it is expected to move north-northwestwards along the Myanmar-Bangladesh coast towards the northeast Bay of Bengal and adjoining areas of Bangladesh.

According to the India Meteorological Department (IMD), the low-pressure system is not expected to have any direct impact on Odisha.

Meanwhile, the depression that was moving across Andhra Pradesh, Odisha and Chhattisgarh towards Uttar Pradesh has weakened further and has become a well-marked low-pressure area.
