Chinese President Xi Jinping has arrived in Washington on a high-profile visit following an invitation from US President Donald Trump. In a rare gesture, Trump personally welcomed Xi Jinping at the airport, underscoring the significance of the visit. US President Donald Trump rolled out an elaborate military welcome for Chinese President Xi Jinping at Joint Base Andrews in the United States on Wednesday. The two leaders are expected to hold bilateral talks on key issues, including trade, artificial intelligence, Taiwan and the Iran war. China claims democratically governed Taiwan as its own territory. Their discussions are also likely to focus on broader US-China relations and areas of mutual concern. Xi’s visit marks his first trip to the United States in 11 years. He last visited the country in September 2015.
