The 72nd National Film Awards ceremony was held at Ekta Nagar, Kevadia, near the Statue of Unity in Gujarat on Tuesday, where President Droupadi Murmu presented the prestigious awards to honour excellence in Indian cinema. Renowned Kannada actor Anant Nag was conferred with the prestigious Dadasaheb Phalke Award for 2024 for his outstanding contribution to Indian cinema. Yami Gautam, received the Best Actress award for her performance in Article 370. Meanwhile, Kartik Aaryan was honoured with the Best Actor award for his performance in Chandu Champion. The actor shared the honour with veteran Malayalam actor Mammootty, who won for his performance in the Malayalam film Bramayugam. The film Article 370 received the Best Feature Film award, while Bhangar was recognised as the Best Non-Feature Film and Ram-Nami won the Best Documentary Film award. Actor and filmmaker Randeep Hooda received the Best Debut Director award for his film Swatantrya Veer Savarkar. The ceremony celebrated the exceptional contributions of filmmakers, actors and other professionals, recognising their creativity and achievements in Indian cinema.
