A Delhi court has acquitted former chief of the Wrestling Federation of India, Brij Bhushan Sharan Singh and former assistant secretary, Vinod Tomar in a sexual harassment case filed by women wrestlers, holding that the prosecution failed to prove the charges beyond reasonable doubt. The case was registered following allegations made by several women wrestlers who had protested in April 2023, accusing the former WFI chief of sexual harassment and intimidation. After hearing arguments and examining evidence, the court pronounced both accused not guilty and ordered their acquittal. The court’s order followed extensive hearings involving the prosecution, complainants, and the accused. The prosecution examined 32 witnesses, including wrestlers, coaches, and officials.
