Air India to Conduct Mandatory Dope Tests for All Pilots
Air India has decided to conduct dope tests for all its pilots from today, following a recent incident in which the pilot of a Phuket–Delhi flight failed a drug test.

Under the new measure, dope tests will be conducted at Air India’s academy in Gurugram or, alternatively, at the respective Airport after the completion of a flight. The initiative is aimed at ensuring that pilots are fit to operate flights and that passenger safety is not compromised.

The decision comes after the Phuket–Delhi flight pilot failed a dope test, prompting the airline to strengthen its safety and monitoring procedures.

Air India’s move is being seen as a significant step towards maintaining strict safety standards and ensuring greater accountability among flight crew. Regular testing is expected to help prevent pilots from operating flights while under the influence of prohibited substances and further strengthen passenger safety.
