In a sharp attack on Odisha Government, former Chief Minister and BJD President Naveen Patnaik has accused it of gross negligence after hundreds of errors surfaced in newly distributed Odia-medium textbooks for Classes 1 to 8. Patnaik, in a strongly worded statement on X, described the lapses as shattered faith of an entire generation of Odia children. He highlighted issues such as misspelt names of prominent Odia figures, Odia language, literature, and cultural pride. Naveen further stated that the callous handling of school textbooks by the Odisha Government has betrayed sacred trust. The victims are lakhs of students. By printing error‑ridden textbooks and then flip‑flopping on their withdrawal, we are shaking the very foundation of our children’s tomorrow, Naveen added.
