The District Education Officer (DEO) has suspended the in-charge Headmistress of Sanatemera Government Upgraded High School hostel under Jharigam Block in Nabarangpur district following an incident where over 160 students left the school hostel alleging lack of basic facilities. According to reports, yesterday, around 160 hostel students walked out of the hostel citing non-availability of basic amenities such as quality food and toilet. After discussions and persuasion by officials, half of the students returned, while the remaining students went back to their homes. Taking note of the incident, DEO suspended In-charge Headmistress Rajyalaxmi Maharana with immediate effect. Officials said an inquiry is underway to address the grievances raised by the students and to ensure that proper facilities are provided in the hostel going forward.
