The Odisha Cabinet under the Chairmanship of Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi has approved 10 proposals across six departments. Chief Secretary Anu Garg briefed the media about the decisions following the Cabinet meeting. As part of the Government’s efforts to further digitise administrative work, the Cabinet approved the implementation of Odisha State Workflow Automation System (OSWAS) 2.0. The proposal aims to make the functioning of all Government offices up to the Block level paperless. The Cabinet also approved the third amendment to the Odisha Semiconductor Policy. In alignment with the India Semiconductor Mission (ISM) 2.0, the State Government will promote semiconductor manufacturing in Odisha. Under the amended policy, the State will provide an additional incentive equivalent to 25% of eligible capital expenditure. The Cabinet further approved amendments to the Odisha Renewable Energy Policy (OREP) 2022. Another major decision was the approval of the Parvati Giri Mega Lift Irrigation Project. The project is estimated to require an expenditure of around Rs 12,458 crore over five years. The Cabinet also decided to continue the ‘Yashoda’ and ‘Ashirbad’ schemes for vulnerable and destitute children. An allocation of Rs 296.99 crore has been approved for the two schemes. In another decision concerning children, the Cabinet approved the continuation of the ‘Malati Devi Prak-Vidyalaya Paridhan Yojana’ for another five years. The state Cabinet also approved an expenditure of Rs 389 crore for reservoir and minor lift irrigation projects. The decisions are aimed at strengthening digital governance, promoting emerging industries and renewable energy, expanding irrigation infrastructure, and continuing welfare measures for vulnerable sections of society.
