Low-Pressure Area Forms; Heavy Rain Likely in Odisha
A cyclonic circulation over the South West Bengal and adjoining North Odisha has intensified further. Under its influence, a low pressure area has formed over the same region.
 
Due to this system, heavy to very heavy rainfall is expected in northern and western Odisha. The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has specifically forecast extremely heavy rainfall in Mayurbhanj district and has issued a Red Warning for today.
 
Manorama Mohanty, Director of the Regional Meteorological Centre, Bhubaneswar, said, parts of Sundargarh, Keonjhar, Balasore, Bhadrak, Angul, Dhenkanal, Cuttack, Bolangir, Boudh, Sonepur, Kalahandi, Kandhamal, Gajapati and Ganjam districts are also likely to witness rainfall.
 
An orange alert has also been issued for 19 districts for very heavy rainfall, while 10 districts are under a yellow alert for heavy rainfall.
