In a major announcement, the BCCI has named Shreyas Iyer as India’s new T20I Captain. Iyer, who has led Kolkata Knight Riders to an IPL title and captained Delhi Capitals in the past, gets the full-time T20I leadership role. The biggest talking point from the squad announcement is the inclusion of IPL star Vaibhav Sooryavanshi. The young batter, who lit up IPL 2026 with fearless hitting, has received his maiden call-up to the Indian T20I squad. Vaibhav’s rapid rise through U-19 cricket and his explosive performances in the IPL forced the selectors’ hands. Chief selector Ajit Agarkar had earlier said Vaibhav selected himself with his performances. At 15 years old, Vaibhav becomes the youngest player to be selected for the India squad. The previous record belonged to Sachin Tendulkar, who was selected for India at 16 in 1989. India will kick off the tour with a two-match T20I series in Ireland, scheduled for June 26 and 28 and then head to England to play five T20I matches, from July 1 to 11. India Squads For Ireland And England Tours: Shreyas Iyer (Captain), Tilak Varma (Vice Captain), Ravi Bishnoi, Abhishek Sharma, Nitish Kumar Reddy, Mohammed Siraj, Sanju Samson, Axar Patel, Harshit Rana, Ishan Kishan, Washington Sundar, Arshdeep Singh, Shivam Dube, Varun Chakaravarthy, Prince Yadav, Vaibhav Sooryavanshi.
