A fresh political row erupted in Tamil Nadu as Indian Union Muslim League (IUML) has now officially extended support to actor-turned-politician Vijay’s Tamilaga Vettri Kazhagam (TVK) for Government formation in Tamil Nadu, giving the alliance a decisive edge in the Assembly. With IUML’s 2 MLAs backing the alliance, the TVK-led front now commands a strength of 120 in the Assembly in the 234-member Assembly. The numbers have now comfortably crossed the majority mark. Current composition of the TVK-led alliance: ➡️TVK: 107 ➡️Congress: 5 ➡️CPI: 2 ➡️CPI(M): 2 ➡️VCK: 2 ➡️IUML: 2 The development comes as TVK intensifies consultations with alliance partners. Vijay, who approached the Governor with a coalition Government, was falling short of the majority mark of 118. There has been a huge suspense over who would form the Government in Tamil Nadu amid massive twists and turns. But the decade-long DMK-AIADMK era has come to an end in Tamil Nadu politics.
