The State Election Commission has announced that the voter list for upcoming Panchayat and Municipal elections in the State will be prepared after the completion of the Special Intensive Revision (SIR). Addressing the media, the Secretary of the State Election Commission said that voter list preparation will be carried out from October 26 to November 7. Door-to-door survey will be conducted for voter list preparation. Teams will be formed by August 31. The teams will include BLOs, Anganwadi workers and ASHA workers. The final voter list for all wards will be published by February 10. Due to the Census exercise, the Panchayat and Municipal elections may witness a slight delay. On election preparedness, the Commission said that a decision has been taken to repair old ballot boxes. It added that new ballot boxes have also been procured. To prevent bogus voting, the Commission announced that it will adopt a ‘De-duplication App’ to ensure that no voter can cast vote at two different places.
