All India Trinamool Congress Parliamentary Party Chairperson Mamata Banerjee has appointed Kalyan Banerjee as the Chief Whip of the party in the Lok Sabha with immediate effect. Banerjee has written a letter to Lok Sabha Speaker Om Birla informing about the change. This announcement comes a day after the rebel Trinamool Congress (TMC) MP Kakoli Ghosh Dastidar announced that a faction of 20 MPs has formally requested the Lok Sabha Speaker for separate seating arrangements.
