Suvendu Adhikari makes Big Announcement: ‘Dham’ Word to be Removed from Digha Jagannath Temple Name
West Bengal Chief Minister Suvendu Adhikari has announced that the word ‘Dham’ will be removed from ‘Digha Jagannath Dham’.

Following a letter from Odisha Chief Minister Mohan Majhi, Suvendu Adhikari said the temple will now be called ‘Digha Jagannath Cultural Centre’ instead of ‘Digha Jagannath Dham’.

Targeting the previous State Government, West Bengal CM said, “The earlier Government added the word ‘Dham’. This was against Sanatan Dharma. “He confirmed that Odisha CM Mohan Majhi’s letter has been received and the word ‘Dham’ will be removed immediately.

For this, Puri MP Sambit Patra was also sent. Suvendu Adhikari added that a proposal in this regard will be passed in the Cabinet soon.

The announcement comes days after CM Mohan Majhi wrote to West Bengal requesting the name change, stating that ‘Dham’ should be reserved only for the four Char Dhams, including Puri Srikhetra, as its use was hurting devotee sentiments. Puri MP Sambit Patra expressed gratitude on behalf of the Chief Minister and the people of Odisha for the decision of the West Bengal Government.
