Supreme Court Stays Release of 'Mahaprabhu Jagannath' Animation Film Till Rath Yatra Ends
The Supreme Court upheld the interim order of the Orissa High Court and put a stay on the release of the animation film ‘Mahaprabhu Jagannath’.

The Apex Court said the film cannot be released until the ongoing Ratha Jatra concludes. The matter was heard by a bench which considered petitions raising concerns over the depiction of Lord Jagannatha’s traditions in the film.

Senior Advocate Tushar Mehta appeared for the Odisha Government and presented its stance. Advocate General Pitambar Acharya represented the Shree Jagannath Temple Administration before the court.

AG Pitambar Acharya informed the court that the film allegedly distorts the culture, rituals and traditions associated with Mahaprabhu Jagannath.

The petition was filed by Mahesh Sahu, a member of the Shree Mandir Managing Committee.
