President Gives Assent to Anti-Paper Leak Bill
President Droupadi Murmu has given her assent to the Anti-Paper Leak Bill, paving the way for stricter action against malpractices in public examinations.

The Bill was passed by both Lok Sabha and Rajya Sabha earlier. Following parliamentary approval, it was sent to the President for final clearance.

The Ministry of Law and Justice has now issued an official gazette notification confirming the President’s assent. With this, the Public Examinations (Prevention of Unfair Means) Amendment Bill, 2026 has become an Act and will come into force as per the provisions mentioned in it.

The new law aims to curb question paper leaks, prevent cheating in competitive exams, and ensure transparency in recruitment and entrance examinations across the country.

It also provides for stringent penalties, including jail terms and heavy fines, for those involved in paper leaks and organized malpractices.
