A deep depression crossed the coast near Digha on the West Bengal-Odisha coast on Tuesday, the India Meteorological Department said. According to IMD, the system crossed the coast near Digha and is currently moving in a west-northwest direction. The weather department has forecast that the deep depression will move across north Odisha over the next 24 hours, bringing heavy to very heavy rainfall to several districts. Authorities in Odisha and West Bengal have been put on alert. Fishermen have been advised not to venture into the sea, and district administrations have been asked to monitor low-lying areas for possible waterlogging and flooding.
