BRICS Disaster Management Summit Begins in Puri
The BRICS Disaster Risk Reduction Working Group meeting commenced in Puri today and will continue till June 5. Chief Minister Mohan Majhi is scheduled to attend the summit tomorrow.
 
Odisha is hosting a BRICS-level conference for the first time. The summit will focus on disaster management strategies and best practices among member nations.
 
Representatives from 11 BRICS member and partner nations have arrived in Puri to participate in the high-level discussions.
 
The participating countries include Brazil, Russia, India, China, South Africa, Egypt, Ethiopia, Iran, Saudi Arabia, the United Arab Emirates, and Indonesia.
 
Deliberations will focus on advancing collective action and sharing best practices in Disaster Risk Reduction (DRR).
 
Discussions will also center on strengthening disaster resilience and building institutional capacity to handle natural calamities.
