Asian Games: Vithya Ramraj Breaks PT Usha’s Record in 400m Hurdles; Secures Hat-Trick of Medals

Indian athlete Vithya Ramraj created history at the Asian Games by breaking legendary athlete PT Usha’s 42-year-old national record in the women’s 400m hurdles.

Vithya clocked 54.75 seconds in the 400m hurdles, surpassing PT Usha’s previous record of 55.42 seconds, set at the 1984 Los Angeles Olympics.

The achievement added another remarkable chapter to Vithya’s campaign at the ongoing Asian Games, where she has secured a hat-trick of medals.

Vithya has won gold in the women’s 4x400m relay, silver in the mixed 4x400m relay, and bronze in the women’s 400m hurdles, making her one of India’s notable performers in athletics at the Games.

With her record-breaking performance in the 400m hurdles, Vithya has not only surpassed a long-standing mark held by PT Usha but has also etched her name in the history of Indian athletics.
