The Supreme Court termed homemakers as “Nation Builders”, recognizing their invaluable contribution to families and society. The court made the remark while saying that loss of a wife’s domestic care should be monetised at a minimum of ₹30,000 per month. The court noted that calling women managing households “housewives” undermines their role and observed that domestic work deserves proper economic recognition.
