Amid an ongoing political row over the Odisha Coastal Highway project, Works Minister Prithviraj Harichandan on Thursday gave a sharp reply to the BJD’s remarks on the coastal highway project, stating that the Brahmagiri-Krushnaprasad Coastline project blocked because of the previous BJD Government. The Works Minister alleged that the previous Government did not cooperate for the last 15 years, which delayed the project. Harichandan accused senior BJD leader Sanjay Das Burma of playing a big game for personal interests in the matter. The Minister claimed that the BJD had conspired to shift the highway alignment from Gopalpur to Rameshwar. Clarifying the current plan, Harichandan said the highway will now run from Kakatpur along the coastline to Paradeep. He added that this route will open new avenues for economic development in the region.
