SIR to Begin in Odisha from May 30; Over 9 Lakh Voters Deleted from Electoral Roll
The Special Intensive Revision (SIR) of electoral rolls in Odisha will begin on May 30, State Chief Electoral Officer (CEO) RS Gopalan informed at a press meet today.

Preparatory work, training, and printing will be carried out from May 20 to May 29. The actual SIR exercise will start from May 30.

Odisha has 3.34 crore voters at present. More than 9 lakh voters have been deleted from the voter list during pre-revision activities due to death, shifting, or duplication.

By the end of SIR, the state will have 45,255 polling booths. So far, 94.61% of mapping work in the state has been completed, the CEO said.

“Those who are not Indian citizens will be removed from the electoral roll during SIR,” the CEO stated. The CEO appealed to all citizens to cooperate with BLOs during house visits and keep relevant documents ready for verification.

The final electoral roll after SIR will be published as per the schedule notified by the Election Commission of India.
