Actor-turned-politician Vijay, Chief Minister of Tamil Nadu, passed the floor test in the State Assembly on Friday. Vijay’s Tamilaga Vettri Kazhagam (TVK) won the trust vote with 144 votes in its favour in the 234-member House. Rebel AIADMK legislators voted in favour of TVK, giving Vijay the crucial numbers to prove his majority. This follows recent reports of a split in AIADMK, with over 30 MLAs leaning toward TVK. 22 MLAs voted against the motion.
