Schools Shut, Leave of Govt Employees Cancelled in This Odisha Dists Amid Heavy Rain Forecast

Amid the forecast of heavy to very heavy rainfall across Odisha, several district administrations have taken precautionary measures, including cancelling leave for Government employees and directing them to remain at their headquarters. A Red Alert has been issued for Gajapati, Ganjam and Koraput districts of Odisha in view of the forecast of extremely heavy rainfall.

In Puri district, the Collector has cancelled leave for government employees in view of the possibility of heavy rainfall and instructed officials not to leave their headquarters.

In Malkangiri district, leave for government employees has been cancelled for September 23, 24 and 25. The Collector has directed officials to remain prepared for the anticipated heavy rainfall. Fishing has also been prohibited in the Satiguda and Balimela reservoirs. Four cyclone shelters in the district have been kept ready as part of the preparedness measures.

In Gajapati district, the Collector has instructed government employees not to leave their headquarters. The district administration has stepped up preparedness for the possible weather disturbance and directed officials to closely monitor areas vulnerable to landslides. Schools and Anganwadi centres in the district will remain closed from September 22 to 24 in view of the forecast of heavy rainfall.

In Koraput district, leave for government employees has been cancelled, with officials directed to remain at their headquarters until September 25. The decision has been taken as a precautionary measure in view of the possibility of heavy rainfall.

Meanwhile, all government and private schools in Jagatsinghpur district will remain closed on September 22 in view of the expected adverse weather conditions.
