Banking services across the country, were affected on Friday as the United Forum of Bank Unions (UFBU) called a nationwide strike demanding the immediate implementation of a five-day work week and the resolution of pending wage-related issues. Most branches of public sector banks remained either completely or partially closed as employees and officers participated in the strike. Essential branch-level services, including cash deposits and withdrawals, cheque clearing and administrative operations, were affected at several public sector banks. However, digital banking services such as UPI, internet banking and other online facilities continued to remain operational, allowing customers to carry out many routine transactions despite the strike.
