The death toll from the devastating floods in Nepal has crossed 1,000, with 987 deaths reported in Nepal. China’s death toll for the Tibet region has stood at 16. Nepal’s National Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Authority (NDRRMA) authorities said that 3,916 people are still missing following the massive floods and flash floods that have caused widespread destruction across the region. Among those reported missing, 583 are foreign nationals, raising concerns over the safety of tourists and other foreign citizens. Meanwhile, rescue and relief operations are continuing on a large scale. Authorities have so far rescued 11,814 people from affected areas. Authorities in Nepal said many of the bodies recovered were badly disfigured and in some cases already severely decomposed. The death toll is expected to rise further in the coming days and weeks. The devastating floods have caused extensive damage to homes, roads, bridges and other critical infrastructure, while rescue teams continue efforts to locate those who remain missing and provide emergency assistance to affected communities.
