Trinamool Congress (TMC) supremo and former West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee’s niece Bristy Mukherjee was found dead at her residence in Birbhum on Tuesday. The body of Bristi Mukherjee (28) was recovered from a room on the second floor of her house at Kusumba village in Rampurhat area this afternoon. Mukherjee was found hanging at her home. Mukherjee had lost her job following the Supreme Court’s decision to cancel the recruitment of staff in Government-aided schools in West Bengal amid allegations of irregularities in the recruitment process. Family members said Mukherjee had been undergoing treatment for depression for several years. Police have initiated an investigation into the circumstances surrounding her death.
